Our Commitment

Prudie & Primmie is our fresh take on children’s wear in a market where the balance between quality and style is often compromised.
We aim for our garments to be gender-inclusive in design, sustainably sourced and ethically produced. Made in small batches and designed to be passed on and loved again.

Sustainable and Ethical Childrenswear

We understand that as a customer, you want to know the origin of your child’s clothing. To create timeless, fuss-free pieces, we have partnered with a boutique, female-owned factory in the National Capital Region of India, that allows us to produce low quantities made by hand, to a very high quality.

We value our relationship with our suppliers and pride ourselves on making beautiful exclusive pieces using high quality materials and fabrics, whilst being ethically and sustainably made.
Production is a lengthy process and we spend months designing our pieces from start to finish. We want to share the story of how we produce our pieces, to give you greater peace of mind about where your child’s clothing comes from.

SUPPORTING WORKERS
Our production partner pays above award wages to their workers whose hours are capped at 8 hours of duty per day, and are represented by labour unions to ensure their rights and safety are protected.

COMMUNITY ADVOCACY
They give back to the community in which they are based, by training women from underprivileged backgrounds on the use of sewing machines, to gain insight into the industry, perfect the craft, and gain enough skills to earn, and make a living so they’re empowered to have a voice and take control of their independence.

QUALITY + SAFETY
All of our pieces undergo quality control checks to ensure they’re free from defects and adhere to Australian children's apparel product safety guidelines.

SOURCING + WASTE REDUCTION
When new fabric is manufactured, it leaves behind a significant carbon footprint. Our production partner lessens this by working with excess fabrics from mills. This way, the mills don’t have to make new fabrics, and the excess fabric is being put to good use instead of thrown away.
When fabrics are being cut according to a specific pattern, sometimes there are scraps that can’t be incorporated into the garment. They work with pillow manufacturers and provide the scraps to them, so they can be minced and made into cushion filling.

FABRIC DYEING
Most commercial fabric dyes contain lead. Our production partner uses only azo-free dyes, free from carcinogens. The fabrics are only air dried and not subject to any artificial drying processes, to avoid further carbon emissions. With the small quantity, handmade nature of our garments, there may be irregularities in colour and make, which is part of the process.

OUR PACKAGING
A final note about our packaging. As avid online shoppers ourselves, we found that after a while, breaking down cardboard boxes gets tiring! This is why Prudie & Primmie pieces are shipped in 100% compostable mailer bags, and our tissue, stickers, thank you cards and hang tags, are also 100% recyclable and compostable.
