Something wonderful happens when you edit a wardrobe right back.
Not to be too bare or restrictive, just more considered. Your little one chooses the same dress again and again because it fits perfectly, they feel like a princess, and it has survived every adventure it’s been on. That is the wardrobe we want to help you build.
Prudie and Primmie is an Australian-designed children’s clothing brand, shipping worldwide, to families in Australia, the UK, and including the US.
The hardest working pieces
We all have that piece. Worn to the birthday party, then to the playground, then to photo day. And when they finally grow out of it, it can be passed on to the next child and still looks great.
For me, living in London with limited wardrobe space, that is exactly what I want. The same pieces, reached for again and again. The familiarity of knowing something will always look great, work for the occasion, and hold up beautifully.
My sister Ali runs the Australian side of the brand from South Australia, and the wardrobe challenge is the same. Fewer pieces, chosen well, that work across the seasons.
Buying well
When I buy anything for my son, I try to think, will I still love this in a year? Will it wash well? Will I fold it carefully and put it away somewhere special when he grows out of it?
For us, buying well means choosing fewer pieces more carefully. Fabrics that keep their shape. Silhouettes that don’t blindly follow a trend. Pieces that earn their place in the wardrobe because they are beautiful. A small wardrobe where everything gets worn is much preferred to me, rather than a full one where most of it goes unworn.
We design for children from 6 months to 8 years, so the pieces grow with your family.
Why we make in small batches
Small batches mean we only make what we know you will love. There is no excess stock or end-of-season dumping, nothing produced just to fill a range. Every piece we commit to has to fit into the collection and earn its place, which makes us more considered about what we make in the first place.
It also keeps us close to the people who make our pieces. Smaller orders mean more direct conversations with our makers, more ability to refine and get things right, and a relationship built on care rather than volume.
And there is something about knowing a piece is limited, made in a small run, feeling more considered.
Small batches mean we know every piece that leaves us. We choose fabrics worth choosing. We take time on the construction. We check each piece properly before we pack it.
We hope you feel that when it arrives to you.
The thing that makes it worth it
We love hearing your messages, "my daughter has worn this every week and it still looks great," or, "I’m putting this away for my next one."
That is buying well, and it is what we are working towards, one piece at a time.
Prudie and Primmie makes timeless, heirloom-quality children’s clothing designed to be worn, handed down and passed on. We ship worldwide to the US, Europe, Asia, and free shipping in Australia and the UK.
